I was born in Crewe in 1979. I grew up in Yorkshire, in a big house outside a mining village where the mines had all closed. I went to school in Huddersfield. I left home at 18 to read English Literature at New College, Oxford. I flitted between Oxford colleges for the next nine years, gaining a variety of degrees and teaching undergraduates. Then I moved to London and the commercial world which was, to put it mildly, a bit of a shock.
My first novel, The Storyteller, was published by Holland House Books in June 2016 and was longlisted for the Republic of Consciousness Prize.
My second novel is in progress.
